Our History

The roots of our Church trace back to the mid 1950s where citizens of greek decent who lived in Wellington County founded the first organizations dedicated to the establishment of a Greek Orthodox Church and community in Guelph.

Through their effort, dedication and hard work, the Hellenic Canadian Community of Guelph, dedicated to the building of St. George Orthodox Church was created in 1982.

Since then many Greek Orthodox Christians and their families continued the tireless work of creating the basis upon which the Church would be built.

In 2003 the Hellenic Canadian Community of Guelph purchased the plaza at 50 Dovercliffe Rd. in Guelph and renovation began to create the Church.

Thanks to donations, volunteer efforts, and support from local business,

Today, 50 Dovercliffe Rd. is the home of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and St. George Banquet Hall.

Our community falls under the Greek Orthodox Diosese of Canada and His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios.
